Beautifully Intimate Wedding at Gates of Heaven
There’s something so special about a summer wedding in Madison. Especially when it takes place at a venue as charming and historic as the Gates of Heaven, it is an extra special treat to any Madison wedding photographer. Nestled in James Madison Park, this little stone synagogue is a gem—full of character, warmth (No AC!), and the perfect touch of charm. It was the perfect backdrop for Aaron & Alana’s relaxed and intimate wedding day.
A Day Full of Emotion and Meaning
From the moment I arrived, I could feel the calm, joyful energy of the day. Aaron & Alana wanted their wedding to be simple, heartfelt, and completely centered on the people they love most. And that’s exactly what it was.
The decor was minimalist—no over-the-top florals or elaborate setups—just the natural beauty of the space, the golden light filtering through the historic windows, and the love between these two. And let me tell you, that was more than enough.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the day? Alana’s aunt singing during the ceremony. Not a single dry eye in the room. (Including mine) It was one of those moments that reminded me why I love documentary-style photography so much—capturing real emotion as it unfolds.
Strolling Through James Madison Park
Before and after the ceremony, we took a brief slow, easy walk around James Madison Park for portraits. The early summer weather was absolutely perfect—sunny, warm, but with just the right amount of breeze. Aaron & Alana were effortlessly themselves, laughing and soaking in the first moments of being officially married. Just natural, joyful moments that felt so true to them.
An Intimate Celebration at Cadre Restaurant
Once the portraits wrapped up, we made our way over to Cadre Restaurant for their small reception. It was the perfect setting for a cozy, celebratory meal with their closest family and friends. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of love—exactly how they envisioned their day.
