A Wildly Beautiful Wedding at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
Sometimes, wedding days don’t go exactly as planned—and those are often the ones you’ll never forget. Alex and Sarah’s wedding at the stunning Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, was one of those days. A mix of love, resilience, and a whole lot of fun, this was a celebration that none of us will ever stop talking about.
This day was so crazy. We got several viral TikTok's and an article in PEOPLE magazine.
A Morning Full of Excitement
The day started like any great story—excited nerves, laughter, and a touch of chaos. Alex and Sarah got ready right at the resort, setting the stage for those intimate pre-wedding moments. Rain pattered softly outside, at least to start. But if anyone was nervous, you’d never know it. Both sides of the bridal party had the best energy, popping champagne and cracking jokes while hair and makeup worked their magic.
The first look was one of my favorite moments of the day. These two braved the rain, meeting under the cloudy sky outside the resort. Watching Alex’s face light up when he saw Sarah was everything. Sure, we had to dodge a few raindrops, but their joy shone brighter than any storm cloud.
A Ceremony with Nature’s Blessing
The skies cleared just in time for Alex and Sarah’s outdoor ceremony, a perfect window of calm in an otherwise stormy day. Set against the lush, manicured grounds of the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, the ceremony was breathtaking. The love these two share was evident in every tear-filled vow and every beaming smile.
One thing I adore about Lake Geneva weddings is how the natural beauty of the area seems to amplify the emotions of the day. With the rolling hills and serene atmosphere, it’s hard not to get swept up in the romance.
Stunts, Tornado Warnings, and Unforgettable Moments
The photoshoot around the venue grounds was full of personality, just like Alex and Sarah. These two former cheerleaders brought some serious flair to their day—literally. Watching them pull off cheer stunts in full wedding attire (yes, Alex and his groomsmen actually *threw Sarah into the air*) was both hilarious and jaw-dropping. It’s not every day you see a bride flying through the sky!
But then the weather decided to throw us all a curveball. A tornado warning forced everyone—bride, groom, guests, and staff—into the basement of the resort. There were actually two tornados from this storm across Lake Geneva from the resort. Talk about an unexpected twist! Even with the chaos, Alex and Sarah kept their spirits high, proving that no storm could dampen their love or their party.
When the resort lost power, the magic didn’t stop. A stranger with a guitar stepped in to sing their first dance song while guests surrounded the couple with flashlights and phone lights. It was one of those moments that felt straight out of a movie—raw, emotional, and unforgettable.
A Reception Full of Light
Once the storm passed everyone was allowed to go back into the ballroom. But, power was never restored. The reception resumed off in one of the resort’s elegant ballrooms. The lighting from the DJ was absolutely stunning, transforming the space into a glowing celebration. And the only source of light in the room. Guests danced the night away, energized by Alex and Sarah’s incredible vibe.
