Nestled about 30 minutes outside Milwaukee, Holy Hill Basilica is perched atop rolling Wisconsin hills, offering breathtaking views that make you stop in your tracks. Fun fact: if you make it up to the spires of the Basilica, you can actually see Milwaukee in the distance!
Brooke & Josh wanted something classic but easygoing—nothing too stiff or forced, just the two of them being themselves in a place that felt special. And Holy Hill? It delivered. From the grand Basilica to the surrounding wooded trails and open fields, every inch of this place is pure magic, especially in late summer when the light gets all warm and golden.
Now, if you’re considering a Holy Hill engagement session, here’s something important to know: They close the entire grounds (yes, the whole thing! The Lord is closed.) way earlier than you’d expect—around 6pm. We learned this the hard way and got *not so politely* kicked out along with everyone else still exploring the hill with two plus hours of sunlight left. A little ridiculous, right? But no worries! We pivoted and found a dreamy open field within view of the Basilica that I had found before the session. Where the light was perfection, and Brooke & Josh got to dance around, be a little goofy, and soak in the moment together. Honestly, those were some of my favorite shots of the day.

One thing I always tell my couples is that engagement sessions should feel natural and fun, not like a never-ending list of stiff poses.
