The Right Fit


When Tori and Eric reached out to book their wedding and engagement session, I knew right away that it was going to be a special one. Not only were they an absolute dream to work with, but they had their hearts set on one of the most iconic -and my favorite- locations in Madison, the Wisconsin State Capitol Building. Let me tell you, this place is a photographer’s paradise! With its grand architecture, marble staircases, and endless natural light, it’s the perfect backdrop for celebrating love in style.

Setting the Scene: Wisconsin State Capitol Magic


Picture this: a warm summer evening, golden hour light spilling over badgerland, and the Capitol building standing tall in the background. You know that “summer in Madison” type of vibe? It just fills a void in my heart. A pitcher of beer at the terrace shaped hole.


The Capitol’s timeless style was the perfect match for Tori and Eric’s classy taste. Tori looked stunning in a white engagement dress that seemed to glow in the soft light, while Eric brought all the dapper vibes in his beautifully tailored suit. Together, they looked like they had walked straight out of a cover shoot for Vouge. 


We started our session exploring the Capitol interior. The stone contrasted beautifully with their outfits, making every shot feel effortless. From the grand steps to the intricate rotunda details, every corner of this location has something unique to offer. 


If you’re planning an engagement session at the Wisconsin State Capitol, my favorite shot is in the elevators as the doors close. The style of the elevators just looks so classy and out of a movie. Just very, cinematic. 


Adding a Personal Touch


What made Tori and Eric’s session even more memorable was their playful, contagious energy. They brought a bottle of champagne, and popping it on the Capitol steps was such a fun moment! The laughter, the fizz, the sheer joy—it was the kind of candid magic that makes these sessions unforgettable. And to amp up the editorial vibes, we played with some direct flash photography. The bold lighting added a modern, edgy feel to their photos, perfectly balancing the timeless vibes of the Capitol.


A Quick Stop at Olin Park


After soaking in the Capitol’s big city feel, we headed to Olin Park for a softer, more nature-inspired vibe. 


With its sweeping views of Lake Monona and the warm hues of the setting sun, it was the perfect contrast to the architectural drama of our first location. Tori and Eric shared quiet, intimate moments here—walking hand-in-hand through the park, and basking in that golden hour glow. It was the perfect way to wrap up their session.

WHY THIS SESSION WAS SO SPECIAL


Tori and Eric’s engagement session felt like a celebration of who they are as a couple. Their warmth, style, and sense of fun shone through in every photo, and it was such an honor to capture it all.
