Getting Ready in Style


The day kicked off right at Cedar Ridge, where both Elaina and Jacob prepared for their big day. This venue has it all: rustic charm with a touch of modern elegance. There’s something so special about everyone being in the same place—it makes the day flow seamlessly and keeps the excitement building. Elaina’s bridal suite was buzzing with laughter, while Jacob and his crew had their own corner of calm confidence. A Bond-Worthy First Look


Their first look took place in one of Cedar Ridge’s warehouses, surrounded by towering barrels of aging bourbon. The space had this moody, cinematic vibe, like something straight out of a James Bond film. And with the wind whipping outside, it was the perfect spot to create an unforgettable moment. When Jacob turned around and saw Elaina his reaction was pure magic. You could feel the love and anticipation radiating between them.

The ceremony was held outside on the patio just as the sun began to dip below the horizon. Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery offers one of the most breathtaking backdrops for a winery wedding ceremony, and this evening was no exception. The golden hour light bathed everything in a warm glow, highlighting the vineyard’s rolling hills and vibrant fall colors. Elaina’s grandfather officiated, adding an extra layer of meaning to the day. It was intimate, heartfelt, and perfectly them.


Sunset Among the Vines


After the ceremony, we wandered into the vineyard for sunset photos, and let me tell you—this is why I love being an Iowa City wedding photographer. The light, the hills, the vines—it’s a photographer’s dream. Elaina and Jacob strolled hand-in-hand, stealing quiet moments together while the sky painted itself in shades of amber and lavender. It was the kind of setting that makes you stop and think, "Wow, this is what love looks like." Also: “Ouch it is freezing.”

The reception took place inside Cedar Ridge’s stunning event space, which was transformed into a cozy haven of twinkling candlelight. Candles were the main source of light, creating this romantic, intimate atmosphere that felt like a warm hug. The evening was filled with heartfelt toasts, delicious food from Cedar Ridge’s catering team (seriously, their food is incredible), and nonstop dancing thanks to their talented DJ—who just happened to be a family member.
